My wife filed her N-400 & got her fingerprinting appointment notice about 2 months ago. It was for July 9.

We were on a trip & missed her appointment due to a flight cancellation. That week, she called the INS 800# & they told her to send a copy of the notice with a letter explaining why we missed the appointment plus asking for a new appointment.

It has now been 5 weeks. My wife called the 800# to check, but they were no help.

Does anyone have an idea how long it'll take for them to give her a new appointment notice? Should she file the N-400 again?

Don't re-apply it will only add to the confusion. Depends on which service center you come under. I would keep calling the 800#, until I find someone who is helpful.

Good Luck!

My FP notice said that I should go within the next four weeks after the appointment date in the case I did miss the date. As well, it said that the application will be closed in the case I don't do the fingerprint check.

I live in NYC - Vermont service center

No mention of 4 weeks on the notice. Just called the INS 800# & they said to wait until a new notice/appt is sent. For Philly, they said it could take "several months". Usual INS crap, but what to do.

missed FP appointment

I have seen FP appointment notice stating to come on afixed date and further stating that incase you cannot make it on the fixed date, then to appear for FP on any wednesday or friday follwoing that appointed day but no later than 6 weeks, failing that the application N-400 would be termineted.
I think it may be worth a try just to go to the place one morning immediately and request for FP. They might do FP for you, or atleast they may advise you. But it is not a so good idea to make a written request at this stage. It will for sure delay.

My senators office said that I am to be FP on Sept 2....but I have not received any notice as yet ??

Has anyone just gone in the local office without a FP notice and gotten fingerprinted ??

I like in Queens NY ?? Does anyone have any experiences to share about this ??

Just like I wrote earlier , just go to the designated address, now on Sept 2 nd, with your existing FP notice and I have think you will most probably be Finger printed without much problem. You can take someone, your friend or relative , with you who can do little bit of expalining on your behalf. It is permitted to take someone with you at FP.
Do not be nervous at all, I think you will be OK.
You may even say that upon inquery and request , now you are called on 2 nd Spt for FP( this is not incorrct as Senator's office did this).

Success!

Just wanted to update those following this thread...

Took my wife to the INS Philly fingerprinting office this past Saturday. They allowed her to get her fingerprinting done w/o any hassles. So glad we just went & gave it a try.
