Hi all,

I am a DV-2008 winner and have my interview scheduled for July 11. I included my husband as dependent in my application. However, my husbands' date of birth in his birth certificate and passport do not match. One of them says August as month and the other one September but the year and the day is the same.
Let me explain how this happened:
10 years ago when my husband got his passport they made a mistake and put September instead of August for his month of birth. He didn't realize it for 3 years. Meanwhile he immigrated to Canada and all his documents were created based on the date of birth in his passport. He never did anything about this since it meant a lot paper work.
In the DV forms we put his date of birth as it is shown in his passport and all his Canadian documents. However, this is not the same as his birth certificate.

Do you think this would cause problem for us in the interview? what do you suggest we should do? any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chilaquil

Did the electronic form include date of birth according to birth certificate or according to passport?

You might need to prove your husband has never sent another entry with the date as stated in the birth certificate.
Date of birth is an important part of check for duplicates. It is supposed to be as in the birth certificate. If it is not, they suspect your husband has sent duplicate entry. And sending a duplicate entry, you know, disqualifies the entries (all duplicate ones).

Thanks for replying to me. My husband is Mexican so he is not eligible to apply for DV lottery and he never did. Do you think this is a good argument?

Many thanks
