Military Service

I'm from a country that a one-year mandatory military service is required for all eligible young men. If I disclose this info on my I-485 form, will the INS be sending me a RFE? Please help!

fail to see the reason for RFE

Should not be a problem. As long as it is not a "military service " like with taliban or that invites some international war crime tribunal's actions, U should be fine.

Thanks, Jaxon

One more question: do I need to obtain a military record from my country and send along with the I-485 form?

bump...

If I remember correctly the form (I485) only asked for the time interval of the military service and no additional documents. I have indicated that, since I was also required to spend 9 months of my life in my home country's army right before I came here.

My lawyer did not ask me to bring any records of it (yet).

However the thought, that I might run into problems later, has also crossed my mind. Especially because technically I am still a reserve officer of my home country (part of NATO now). This is an awkward situation as I could be activated anytime, which happens time to time for training purposes.

Anyone knows anything more about this?
