Messed up on name

The signature that appears on your picture should match what's on certificate, but if your middle name is missing on picture signature it doesn't invalidate the certificate. If you had a totally different name on picture signature, then you may have had an issue, but all you are missing is middle name on picture signature. I guess you didn't sign the actual certificate since you sent it back?
What you're describing is a non issue, but since you already sent it back there's nothing you can do no but wait. It may take a few weeks to receive your corrected certificate. Some have signed picture signature with eligible signature..but it doesn't invalidate the certificate.
No, I didn't sign it. I called..then I went to the office....got the reception I did...and just re-applied. I guess I wasn't sure whether it was a 'big' issue or not....Yes, I just hope I don't have to wait like a year to get it or something. I don't mind a few months....inconvenient a little, but.....

P,

You don't have any problems at all. :p Just enjoy life...:D

It was not an issue at all. If you signed your pictures with just F & L name and your naturalization certificate showed printed F, M & L names you would have been just fine. All you had to do was sign your certificate with F & L name (as the pictures) and you would be good. In fact I know someone who has his regular bank signature in the certificate and picture (only first initial and last name and one cannot even legibly read the signature); but he still has passport, VISA etc.

I can almost bet that the agent over the phone (and probably at DO) either misunderstood your question (or were probably ignorant and did not want to admit it; so they just followed through with what you told them). If you worded your initial calls to the IO in the same way you worded your original post here, I can bet they got confused and thought there was a problem with the signature since you were saying there was a problem. A better way to put the question would have been "I hope it is OK to sign only my first and last name as my signature although the name printed on the certificate has F, M & L names". All you know your passport would be getting processed now but for the quick build up of your blood pressure :p
