Merger - when to file 140 amendment?

Hello All,

My company is merging with another company and the merger is due to complete by the second week of Jan 05. I am currently on an L1 visa with 140/485 pending. I have been told by my attorney that amendments will have to be filed for my L1 visa and my I-140. When do we have to file those amendments ... is there a specific time period after the merger that these amendments have to be filed ?
