Medicals RFE on I-485 - visa number assigned?

Hello all,

I got a medicals RFE on I-485 pending in NSC on June 30th and Replied on July 20th. The case is still in regular "We have received your response for RFE ... blah ... wait 60 days" status.

Does the fact that they requested a medicals RFE mean that the visa # is assigned already? What about all background checks?

Or am I out of luck until October?

I wonder what type of medical RFE you have received in June.
I recently received an email saying RFE was sent out and I am still wating
for what that is.

Just a request to submit I-693 - Medical Examination of Aliens seeking AOS. I didn't submit it originally when I-485 was filed.

well, your signature does not mention about FP - so have you done FP ? - if not - your approval is NOT on horizon - you need to get FP and go thru' process various security checks !!!!

I used my ead and changed the employer. It feels great and free, I recommend it to anyone.

FP done long time ago, back in 10/2006.

Any recommendations what to do? Since it hasn't been 60 days since their last communication yet, I'm hesitant to push them.

I was just thinking why would they issue an RFE on medicals, unless everything else was already finished, including security checks. Or are they not related at all?

Jeez, this wait is killing me. Praying for the day I finally take a long vacation before saying good bye to my employer.

I don't mean to discourage, but my case got RFE twice and still stuck in name ckeck. I don't see any hope at all.

USCIS should have a "mental help while your case is pending" link on their web site.
