Medical Issue

Hi,

I am in process of filing my 140/485 concurrently. My lawyer suggested me to take medical tests. I tested positive on PPD test. Chest X-ray however was clear. Now my quesions are:

1. Can I expect any RFE on this issue? Any other issues?
2. I talked to my doctor in India. He says that it is OK to have bump of size 15 mm as I had BCG in India. (Mine was 16 mm.) He says I do not need any medication and I am convinced - he has always been correct in diagnosing my problems. I am yet to talk to my doctor in USA. Now, am I supposed to undergo medication or does it depends on my doctor's advice? What else can be done/people have done?

I am not really sure how big is this issue. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Hi

The chest x ray is the definitive screening test. If the chest xray is ok, you dont have TB. The PPD test just tells if you have been exposed to TB or not.

So dont worry you are all clear, and by the way, I am an internist here. So you may regard this as professional advice.

Good luck.

Hi,
US is one of the few countries that treat Latent TB. Having a PPD of 15 mm is significant especially since people from india are considered to be high risk . The recent guidelines do advocate treatment and you should consult a physician.Having a clear chest Xray means you are not having active TB,and previous BCG should not give you more than 10 mm reaction. Treatment is simple and effective
Hope this helps
bye

this should clear the air

Hi

This is to clarify the above issue. My wife had a positive PPD or TB test so a RFE was generated for an X ray. She could not do the test earlier due to pregnancy, but now her Xray is clear and she has received her I 485 approval.

If there are any doubts on this issue, kindly look at the downloaded form I 693 for medical exam. On the instructions to civil surgeons, it clearly mentions that even with a positive skin test, a negative chest xray is fine and no action is recommended.

So rest assured if your Xray is clear. The INS does not bother you with a clear Xray.

Take it easy.

I am not a doctor.

My experience:
I never wanted to appear even in semester exams - they make you get up early in the morning and spoil 2 days - one of exam and one of results. Never take exams! :D

we filed our too and had similar results like yours ....no need to do anything further as xray is negative... end of story there..
