Medical for GC...easy:)

I went with my friend today for her medical.
I thought it would involve way more. Al together it took like 40 min. incl. waiting times and filling out a paper and paying for the medical.

The cost were $ 100.-.

She had all her vacinations in previous years and also the HPV. We heard the doctor stating over the phone that the HPV alone would cost $ 145.- and it takes 7 months to get all the shots done and is a requirement for all women under the age of 27, unless the woman is pregnant.

If the doctor wasn't by her self in her office we would have been in and out within 20 min. She checked the blood pressure, ears, pols, listened to the lungs and heart and took some blood for HIV and syphilis test. Also a test for TB has been done.
My friend has to call on friday the doctors office about the TB and later she can get the sealed enveloppe and a copy for her self.

So this was a piece of cake as long as you have proof of all vacinations other wise it might take longer.:)

is there anybody here that has been asked to wait 6 months in order to finish their HPV vaccinations? i dont think i have proof of that vaccination and im under the age of 27

The civil surgeon told us you won't receive your GC until you have finished the 7 months that take for the HPV. She was on the phone explaining it to a person who needed it. Only if you have proof of any medical reason why you shouldn't receive this vaccin or you have proof you are pregnant, you don't need to receive it...but maybe later...!

According to the civil surgeon you don't losse your eligibility in the DV lotery if everything else is taken care off. HPV is 3 shots.

If you need them start getting them a.s.a.p.

You can also look up a civil surgeon on the USCIS website and give them a call and hear what they have to say, after all they are the ones who have to give you the sealed envelope, and without that envelope you won't be able to finish the interview...or maybe they can extend the time frame.

oh my goodness! :( thank you so much for the information, Bentlebee.

I'm assuming you are in the US since you are doing AOS. I'll go and re-post this question in the Nigeria thread to find out if things are done a little differently there. I'll also call the clinic to hear what their policy is.

Very good to check on things....I assume that people from all Nations have to obtain the same vaccinations to enter the USA thorugh the DV GC lottery

I just found the answer my own question. I figured i'll update the thread for others who can benefit from the answer. This is a direct quote from the CDC:

"Because completion of the vaccine series often requires several months, immigrant visa applicants are not required to have received all doses of the required vaccines prior to departure. Rather, applicants are required to have received at least one dose of each vaccine and are encouraged to receive as many additional doses as possible to complete the series, prior to departure for the United States."

I would check with your civil surgeon as well since the civil surgeon told some one else over the phone and when we asked, something else...It wouldn't be causing a denyal, but you wouldn't get the GC till you have finished to have all vaccinations....just check to be sure.
She also stated the Sep. 30 due date wouldn't matter ....if you were approved before you just wouldn't get the C till you had the completion of the HPV.
