Medical Exams Question

Hi,

I am expecting to attend CP at Mumbai sometime early next year.

Here in the US, about 2 weeks back,I got my blood tested for vaccinations.

1. My doctor said I have to take the MMR shot

2. From the chest x rays, there is no indication of TB. He also said I could take the TB skin test.

Please advise me if I take the MMR shot and get the skin test for TB, would it help in anyway during my medicals in Mumbai?

Or am I just wasting my time and co-pay :rolleyes: by having these done here in the US?

I would say, just wait till it is time for the medical tests in India and then take what ever shots that are needed there. They would anyway do the X-ray so there is not point in getting it done here (and you already did).

Raju thanks.

More questions:

1. After I take the MMR shot and the TB test etc, my doc said he would give a certificate about the results of the blood test and mention that I have all the vaccinations and taken the MMR shot as well and blah blah.

So, would they not consider this certificate during my medicals in Mumbai?

2. As per your advice, if I go for medicals in Mumbai and there they say that I have to have so and so vaccination,etc. Would they administer those immediately there and give the certificate?

My basic idea is, I should not have any problems in Mumbai because of any medical issues.

Thanks for your patience. :D

EasyGC,
Medicals in Mumbai go very smooth, unless you really have TB or something you don't have to worry a thing about medicals in Mumbai. Your exams will not take more than couple of hours and you should have the results in your hand before 3:00 pm
I am leaving for my interview next month and I am not bit worried about my medicals...nobody on this forum ever had any problems with medicals in Mumbai.

Where can I get the list of approved hospitals in NEW DELHI for medicals?
Does anyone know if BATRA hospital in New delhi is approved for this kind of test?

{We can not say with certenity that they would accept the vaccination
records from US. I will quote my experience. I have had the vaccinations
here by paying lot of co-pay amount and time wasted on lab visits etc.

The doctor in Chennai did accept my reports from here and did not
give any more shots. But I have also read posts where these reports
were not accepted and the shots were given again ??

Since the whole process is so stream lined in India I have been suggesting
that the candidates need not bother about having these tests done in
US }

2. As per your advice, if I go for medicals in Mumbai and there they say that I have to have so and so vaccination,etc. Would they administer those immediately there and give the certificate?

{Read the post above and 99% of the cases are very smooth}

My basic idea is, I should not have any problems in Mumbai because of any medical issues.

{Only medical issues that can pose problems are like AIDS, and few other
serious communicable diseases}

Thanks for your patience. :D

As Raju said that the whole process is streamlined in Mumbai. I think it's a waste of time and money to get it done here.

They might, they might not. What are you gaining by getting it done here anyway. You'll have to spend a better part of the day in Mumbai anyway for the medicals

Yes. Why would you be concerned with the cert. afterwards. (Although they -Hinduja- do give written report.). You would get a sealed report to be given to the consulate, if e'thing is normal.
