Hi,

My Skin test came positive and Chest X-Ray was Normal, so the doctor advised me to go to Public Health Department. I went to Public Health Department for check-up, they asked me to take 9 months Medication.

1. Will I get an RFE, if they open my case?

2. Do I need to complete my Medication before my Application get Adjusted?

Does anyone had this issue before?

Thanks
Barath

well, many people from India have a positive skin test/PPD due to exposure back home. Many docs uphere do not know that .. and you do not always need to be on 9 month med regimen (personal opinion only). I knew a few people (from India as well;
ex-colleagues) during their employment physical had a positive test who were exempt from being on 9 month meds. Hey, did you try finding an Indian civil surgeon (? just a thought) who understands the fact that you will have a positive test for reasons above, but do not need to be on meds. (Did your civil surgeon understand why you were positive?). In the past also have you had positive TB tests??? You need to discuss all that with couple docs (inclduing one of them back home) ... there mite be a possibility that you truly need to be on meds aswell.

Thanks RDIP,

Yes, my doctor knows that 95% of the Indians have a positive skin test. But my Chest X-Ray came out Normal, and no past TB. But still he recommended me to go to Public Health Department (He also mentioned that I have no active TB). Probably it is kind of Preventive Treatment or By INS Policy, Civil Surgeon should encourage the patient to continue possible preventive treatment, in that case, Do I need to continue my Med for 9 months? If I dont will I get an RFE?

Thanks
Barath

You need to talk with your Civil Surgeon and your Attorney ... even if anyone on the forum may be qualified to give a plausible answer ... I would still get other first hand opinions. If anyone has been through similar situation, they may want to jump in and give their opinions

Hi Barath,

Is there any update on this....as I am also in the same loop of local health department and I do not want to take medication as the X-ray is normal...here is my story...

Skin test positive
X-ray normal

of course the doctor has not recommended medication but it seems they are supposed to report positive skin tests to the local health department???? and we keep getting calls from local health department motivating us to take medication so that it does not become active....does anyone had this kind of experience?

Thanks for your help
