McCain, Kennedy to Propose Fining Illegals

Thu Apr 21, 9:22 PM ET Politics - AP

By SUZANNE GAMBOA, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Sens. John McCain and Edward M. Kennedy are putting together an immigration bill that would subject illegal immigrants to fines, but allow them to remain in the United States and earn a chance to apply for permanent residency

The reason I mention this piece of news is becuase we should write to them to ask for the including the caps removed.

In the past, so many immigration related bills were introduced every year, but almost all of them were dead either in the house or senate. I would say this is not an exception.

If congress wants to lift the cap, they will do so in the current bill, HR 418. I wouldn't put my hope in any other bill as far as the lifting cap goes.

I agree. Their bill is also focused on the 10 million undocumented immigrants who already resided in this country. What is McCain thinking? He is destroying his chances for the White House.

He is frankly not conservative enough for the Republican rednecks who control the nomination process. So I doubt that he can become the presidential nominee.

As for the immigration bill, well some kind of immigration reform is inevitable in the near future. The only question for us is whether the asylee cap would be removed.

We got to keep pressure

Whenever any congress person or senator says something about immigration (becauase they are writing a law or just discusing it), we should write to them and keep our issue (caps removal) alive.

The real id bill (H.R 418) has a good chance of NOT passing - NRA, guns lobbists are also against it as well human rights organizations.

Eventually a bill that is not so controvertial will pass, and caps removal shoulb be there

I am writing to them (kennedy/mccain) - again after I did write to them about me not supporting real id but wanting the caps removed.

that's it guys :)

I want to thank you for your dedication and hardwork. If a vast majority of asylees (about 180,000) pending adjustment do what you are doing, we would have a better chance of making the cap removal happen.
