Thankyou sg94ahpw . I got access to write in this site today. I am Asha13 on the tracker.
My application is pending in Texas since July 2001. I am still waiting for FP. Many enquiries but no results. Last call was in July
and I was told by male officer that "we donot do finger printing business anymore" I asked can you be little more clarify on this
He replied "We donot give any finger printing manually any more"
I said may I estimate another 6 months to get my FP order he laughed at my estimation .He said we are on Aug 2000 and your receipt date is Aug 2001 so it will take another 1 year to get your FP notice. I know this is stupid answer and next day I called National INS to report this. I asked her to make note of random processing in Texas but she said they have no access to report problems in Texas. She told me to go to local INS for FP notice. But I denied that option because it is 3 hour drive. She said only your service center can help. Again I told her that they are absolutely no co-operative. She was very sympthetic to know that we are waiting for 1 year whereas 2002 filers have quick pattern of approval. I tried to end the conversation as she was not able to do anything on the case. But lastly she said I can report to your local INS and you can expect reply from them in 4 weeks. I said how this will help because my case is pending with Texas not with local office. She said still they will reply you. I have given my details and she has passed them to local INS.
My question is "Do you think this will help ? Any body has passed such enquiry? I will post further if I really received any reply from my local INS office. Sorry for being lenthy.

Can we really get FP done w/o FP notice in Local office?

If so, I don't mind driving hours to get it done since FP nowadays becomes so important. However, my question is, will our local INS office allow us doing that? What document other than I-485 receipt we should bring with us if we go?

By knowing ppl w/ ND in May 2002 and having FP done in June got approvals, I really can't lay back and just wait any more!

Folks, what's your take?
 
To Freemind --Driving 3 hours for FP

Hello Freemind, I would have accepted driving to opposite coast if they were really to issue me FP order. National INS lady suggested me this option when I told her that Texas IIO says they stopped issuing FP. The work is done by other agency . I had asked her to know more about this other agency .I asked her to have their phone,address etc. She said there is no such agency that I can give phone No. then she recommended that your local INS should able to issue FP order. I asked her if I go do I really get FP. She replied you can try. She said I am suggesting becuase Texas office told you that they donot do FP anymore.
So I donot think we will get FP from local INS. She promised me that I must get reply from them in 4 weeks so let us see they reply or not. I will keep posted as soon as I hear something.

for your message. I look forward to hearing from you about their response. I really wanted to do something to get this FP done. Can't believe FP now is such a big deal and we all get stuck over here....

What the INS officer meant when he said we don't do finger-printing manually is the following:

When INS receives an I485 application, it automatically sends out a request to an agency called the "National Scheduler" to schedule your finger printing. National Scheduler then sends you the finger printing notice. As to what basis it uses to send you the notice, I don't know. Also, I don't know the contact information of this agency.

The only thing I can suggest for you is call up INS and make sure they have send out a request to the National Scheduler to schedule your finger printing.

Also, if anyone have more information about this agency, please share that with us. Or is it just an automated system?

We applied for EAD's and AP's even having valid h-1 period. After 6 months, our lawyer told that if we apply for EAD's once again, it may speed up the 485 process. This time EAD's took less than a month to process(April 2002) and so far we didn't heard anything from INS. I just want to let you know that this is not going to work, cheap trick from our lawyer to make some money.

RD : 07/30/2001, no FP yet.
