I called my local senator, but the office has not called me back inspite of repeated calling them on the status of my case.

I know one of my friends walked in senator\'s office and it worked. You may want to schedule an interview with them.
 
There is an update not very interesting though.

I spoke with an IIO. She seemed nice and all that. But not sure whether she was talking truth. She said, my case has been kept with August cases. And she promised to move it to May shelf and get a supervisor to assign it ASAP. She said I should hear something within 1 month at the most 2 months. So much for waiting and talking to some other IIOs. Or she was lying I dont know. But she was also asking whether I am the primary, and asked for my wife and son\'s eac numbers. I did not have them. Anyway, that is update. My case is not yet with an officer alas.
 
Interesting news

Just called IIO and the IIO refused to mention whether the case has been assigned to an officer. According to her, the new rule is that they cannot say whether it is assigned or not. The interesting thing is that she asked me for the receipt no for my I140 which luckily i had and gave it to her. I hope this info helps.
 
May be it will help.

All said and done I would certify INS as the most unpredictable and most beauracratic organization in the world. Any takers for that.

My Attorney called IIO

The IIO said my file is with another IIO. It looks like they are assigning it now. So, as per my last post, may be the IIO did not lie to me.

Can you please post whether you knew when it was assigned etc? and when last you called IIO?

It is a big story

I called IIO 2 months back and they said everything looks ok but case is not assigned. Next I saw BestGuy contacted Senator and his case was approved. After thinking a lot finally I called the local senators office and told them to contact INS. Senators office sent me a letter stating that case will be assigned to the officer after 1 month. I check AVM after one month, no change. I called INS somehow got the line and talked to the officer. When she opened my case she said since I have contacted Senators office they cannot give me a status basically I should always go through senators office. I was kind of worried thinking that I might have messed up my case. Then on 5th of this month I called senators office and told them that problem. Senators office again called INS and told me that my case will be assigned to the officer soon and asked me to call after July 5th. I checked AVM on 10th nothing happened. Then y\'day 18th I checked again and I could hear APPROVED. Hope this will help.
