When you sent out RFE, put the INS letter on the top since it has the bar code. It may speed up the process. Instead of sitting there with other files and assigning to other IIO and then returning to the original IIO, the original IIO will get your file immidiately. In my case, it only take three working days (from mail physically arrived to approval message) to finish process.
I also heard the "May take 180 days to process" message on Nov 13. and the case aprroved on Nov 14. So that message is standard, don\'t worry.
BTW: seems INS really keep phone message updated daily.

ND: 8/24/99, FP: 6/00, RFE:10/27/00 for G325, Employment letter etc., RFE sent out 11/07/00 (express mail, physically arrived 11/08/00 1:00 PM), received: 11/13/00 (phone updated), approved 11/14/00 (phone updated). From RFE arrived to I485 approved only take seven days, considering the veterans long weekend. It\'s really efficient.
