Match warning?

Went to do my FP. Took the technician a while to roll a good picture of each of my fingers (calluses from rock climbing.. Doh!..). On several of them the screen on their system will display "Match warning" in red.

What does it mean? Now, I know that there is no possible match for anything, but does that delay processing - or everybody gets this inreal time? (I doubt it works in real time though, but who knows :) ).

My wife got the same on a couple fingers. ;)

I did my second 10 FPs yesterday and I had match warning on a few FPs. When I asked, the technician said it matches the flagged FPs. I didn't go into too much details with the technician. I cant remember if had any match warnings the first time around. My I-485 LUD has not yet changed and I am keeping an eye on it.

My I495 LUD just changed.

Yeah, maybe they run some sort of preprocessing. It was just odd seeing that in red letters in front of you.

When I did my last FP (Feb 28, 2006 i think), I had several warnings like that. Have no idea what this means, I never had any criminal issues...
And I was approved soon after this FPs... so I think you should not worry!

Match Warning and ridge break

Hi,

Had my first FP this morning at Oakland ASC. A few fingers have red match warning, with matching point between 50-60. Some had red 'ridge break' warning too.

Very worried. Any similar experience?

Don't worry

I had the same 'matches', and the technician told me that this happens when an individual finger does not match the full hand. You see, they first take prints of your full hands, and then all 10 fingers individually, to make sure that each print actually belongs to that hand, I presume that this is to minimize the possibility of errors. So they re-take the print until the match is above a certain level (for example, 60%). If below, it gives a 'red flag'.

Relax, you are ok...

MGPY06,

Thanks a lot for sharing the info.

As far as I can remember, yes, they took full hands first and started fingering one by one. And the techinician appears to try to put the number above 50.

Hope for the best.

I got similar explanation.

Basically, potential error could happen when the system tries to match your fp with the fp database. So the techinician should retake the fp for the one with 'match warning'.
