I have been trying to get a Birth certificate or a Non availability certificate from Bombay, but my father has been unable to do so in the last 8 months.

In my last postings, you (Mat Stopper) had said that you got a Birth Certificate from Bandra office of Bombay for Rs 500. Please give me more details about getting this for my wife.

We have got our FP scheduled next week and i desperately need to get this document.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi Sharad,
I am not sure why u need the BC document for getting fingerprinting done. They don\'t ask that during FP. If BC is not possible, U can get 2 seperate affidavits from your mother and father indicating you as their son. The format is avaliable in the www.immitracker.com Infocenter area.

Thanks LAKEE123 for the reply.

I do not need them for the FP.

But i want to be prepared for it. Many got an RFE for this. I have already sent the 2 affidavits. But i think the Non availability certificate is also needed. That is what i do not have.

Sharad,

We got our BC issued in Delhi.. here are the steps from my recollection -

1. Send a copy of passport and class X certificate to your parents.
2. Your parents can go to Birth & Death registration (B & D) registrar\'s office to run initial query. Ideally B&D should issue non-avail but you know how things work in India. If you get lucky you will get non-avail cert.
3. Ask your parents to go to local court to get a date. Basically court will order the B & D registrar to issue you a BC based on information already on your passport and class X certificate. In our case, we got the date after 3 weeks
4. On court date, your parents (preferable both parents + 1 witness) can directly go to B & D (or per courts\' direction) to get the certificate. They will issue the BC on the same day.

Hope this helps.
