I am an asylee ,planning to marry my fiance (US citizen) and we have a 1 year old baby.
I applied for my green card in 2001 as an asylee and now I want to get it through marriage.
If any one knows the procedure and does it affect my eligibility as an asylee in any way.

Thanks

That is a difficult question but I dont think it is ok to have two application I think you have to withdraw the first application but if I were you I wouldn't do that because you can never trust an american woman she can divorce you any time and it will be a double loss. Take your time let the marriage be for real not for papers

Feel free and have your wife file for you as an immediate family(spouse). You are not breaking any law,as a matter of fact you can leave both petitions there. However if you get a greencard through asylum first then cancel the other one vis a vis.

The projected processing time for your green card based on asylum would be 4 years (refer to previous threats). I understand that green card based on immediate faily member does not take more han a year. Apples and oranges here.

You CAN have more than one application pending at a time.

You may call Ins toll free number and ask them or seek advise from an immigration attorney.
