Need some Help about what I should Do....

My fiance is a Permanent Resident (Alien) in the US and is in the process of gaining citizenship. Should I marry and apply as a spouse of a resident, or should we wait and marry after he gains his citizenship? which way is easier to file to gain my permanent resident status so that I am able to work?

What filing procedures should I follow?

It doesnt matter when you marry, but it DOES matter when you apply for your permanent residency.

1. IF you apply for GC when your spouse is a GC holder, he can only apply for I-130, wait for it to be approved and PD to become current before you apply for I-485, I-765 (If you are in the US). If during this wait, your spouse becomes USC, the I-130 petition can be upgraded and the processing time would be shortened.

2. IF you apply for GC when he becomes a USC, you can apply for I-130, I-485 at same time (along with your EAD).

And to add to that..
I personally belong to category 1. but I know many people who also belong to category 2. In our personal observations, being in either category seems to make no significant difference on the date your 485 would actually be approved.
