Would appreciate input.

Married a USC in Sep 2005. I am on H-1, but do not have w-2's. We just filed combined taxes for 2005, mine were in "self employed" category.
I am submitting application for GC, how do these tax issues affect me ?? Am confused please help.

Thanks

At the IRS (irs.gov) there is a part that explains many issues about how to file when you are in different categories (like an immigrant, self-employed, etc).
I think there are others in this forum that can give you a better answer.

Good luck,

How come you are on H-1 and u r under "self employed" category? Can u please give more information as to which is your H-1 holding company?

To clarify....my wife is sponsoring me for GC. I am only wondering the process of doing so. Do i have to show my taxes or not...?

Please help

I think what tapskap meant was that...to have an H-1 visa you need an employer to sponsor you but yet you said you are self-employed. You're either an H-1 or self-employed.

About the taxes... who is filling out your affradevit of support? If your wife is, she needs to submit all the tax info, if you guys are using your income too, then both of you need to submit this info.

Yeah, i have same question as others. How can you be self employed when you claim to be on H-1?
