Married and Unmarried Entries?

KWT

Registered Users (C)
I have already applied for DV-2011 as a single entry. I am getting married in Jan 2010, and my spouse is not eligible to apply. Is it possible that she can apply now including me as a married entry? Even though we are not married yet, but if we selected for DV-2011, we would already be married by the time we get our interview. OR this will be consider lie?

Does someone face any similar situation in the past? Any experience?

I hope you guys understood my situation.

No.

You have to be married at the time of application. For now you are both considered single. Should either one of you get selected, you can add the derivative spouse to your application without any problems. Be prepared to collect some evidence you were planning on getting married before getting selected, but since your relation is honest that shouldn't be a big issue.

I completely agree with E59th!:)

When you are married in Jan and if you get chosen you can add your wife. Indeed be prepared to get some questions and they will probably ask for pictures from the past to proof you didn't just get married so she could get here...if you married and only know each other for a few months, it might be harder since they are very common to come across GC marriages.

Thank you E59th and bentlebee.

Actually I was thinking to double my chance, but my spouse can't apply alone, because of her's country of birth which is not eligible. So, I think I have to stick with one chance only.

Last year I read on this forum, that some one was still in high school and got selected, and by the time he/she got interview, he/she has his/her certificate. So, I thought I might do the same thing, because I am eventually getting marry in next two months.

Any more comments/responses?

That is different....

First she isn't eligible due to her country of birth...so she won't be given the NL or later rejected due to entering under a country that isn't eligible for.

Second, what if (and I'm not hoping it happens to you) the marriage won't go through...things like that have happened. People get divorces all the time and so do break off's...:(

When you win you can add her to you application, but until next years entry you can't enter her by her self...

Also if she enters the lottery by her self stating she is married, she is lying and she has to add you as her spouse which is a second lie. Lie number 3 is that you have to add her as your spouse and you have to commit lie number 4 by stating you are married at the time of entering the lottery while you weren't...so huge red flags to be rejected due to commiting fraud which in this case is stating on an official form things that aren't true! Just my opinion...

Good Luck and Congrats on your marriage:)

You will have a date in your marriage certificate. And if this date if after the entry period of the lottery, you will not be considered married. Writing "married" could be a disqualifying lie. Unless you speed up your marriage and get it done real quick I do not think you can double your chances in this lottery.

If you marry before you enter, it is different....but again you don't want to raise a red flag.

Btw. this is maybe off topic but if you like movies...watch "Proposal" this is a movie about a couple who al of a sudden are going to marry because the woman will be deported by USCIS.....nice movie and at the same time for people writing on this forum, it is a little bit connected to immigration issues and they also show the interview at USCIS...of course it is a movie and not reality...

Hi to All,
I need help plz. I have problem with my dvlottery. we are blessed winners of the dv 2010, but not knowing the both of us refilled the forms seperately with each other under as dependant and sent them back to kcc thinking either of the first result the (2nd letter) to come we could go with it and forget about the next person own. Now i just read from another website telling me that both husband and wife are to send one form and stop the process of the other. Now i m affraid if this could cause our program problem, and hw can this be solve if it's a problem.
2. We are residing in a next country out our country of birth where we played and won, will our interview be done in our country of birth or our residing country? plz i need help.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Ralph,

Your question is a bit confusing, but if I understood correctly, do you mean that you both won separately and got separate first NLs? and you filled DS 230 and DSP 122 as separate winners but putting each other's names as dependants and sent back to KCC?

If that's the case then yes, you definitely need to contact KCC and let them know that you made a mistake or didn't understand because someone else could've gotten a chance. You guys can just use one of the NLs. What are your CNs?

Firstly thank you very much, let me contact them right away and see have they will have to tell me. I pray this will not disqualifies our chance.

Exactly that's it.With our informations and our photos all the same under one another.

And another things are:
1.My case numb is :2010AF00043xx while my wife number is 2010AF68XX when do You think we can expect 2 letter?

2.And thirdly, we are residing in the Ivory Coast where we play, is this where we will expect our interview if possible or in our country of residence?

3.Do you think its a possibility still there for us if we let the kcc know? And can we contact them through email or postal?
Please help me. hope to hear from you soon

Thanks very much

Wow, both your numbers are low so you should've had your 2nd NLs by now because your numbers became current in October as per Visa Bulletin. Right now for Africa all numbers below 14000 are current!

Yes, your interview would be in Ivory Coast unless you do not have a US Embassy there then it will be in the nearest country close to you.

You should contact KCC ASAP, check your 1st NL I think there's an email address and number, call them if you can. There's a possibility that they disqualified you, but don't quote me on this, because they may say you guys were playing them. So try to explain to them that you did not understand the instructions.

Thanks very much for your help,May God bless you. I've contact them via email but they haven't yet gotten back to me. I pray that will not disqualify us since nothing in that states disqualification rather the website said that one partner should only stop the process according to the dv regulations but never mensioned off action KCC in this case like they mension Eg.about an applicant sending 2 entries, adding family members that were not included in you entry etc... that means disqualification. So we pray that we will recieve a 2nd NL soon. Thks once more be bless and plz be there to answer to our problems. Thanks

No maybe it was a mistake on my part but our case numbs are above 14000, they are 40xxx, and 64xxx they are above 14xxx i guest. sorry error from my part oversight.

oohh, ok. Then don't worry. Maybe your 2nd NL is on it's way for the 14XXX CN, which looks like will be current in January. They normally send it 6 weeks before the interview. But it's good that you sent an email anyway. You'll be ok. Keep updating!

Just to make it clear.

1. I got it, you both won - congrats!

2. Is it right that you are married?

3. Is it right that BOTH of you sent an e-DV application with the status "married" and the other as dependant?

4. Did each of you sent DV-230 and DV-122 for the winner and a DV-230 fur the spouse back to KCC?
