Imagine John Smith is married in Argentina.
Then John and Maria get marry in South America and come to the US on H1 and H4. Later GC through employment gets approved for both John and Maria.

Few months after getting GC, John and Maria decide to get divorced.

Where does the paperwork for divorce need to be filed? In Argentina or in the US? Or in both countries?

Interesting. But paperwork for marriage was never filed in the US.
I guess upon returning to home country (for a visit for example) you would need to file divorce there as well? Otherwise, how the court in Argentina would know the individual is not longer married?
