Marriage while I485 Pending

All,

I need some advice on adding spouce to I485 application and any help would be nice.

I filed I140/I485 concurrently - My PD is current, and my I140 to be approved anytime. I think my I485 will be approved in about 3 mos.

I am to get married in next few months and like to know when I can add my spouce to I485 application?

1) Can I add my spouce to I485 while the application is already filed?
2) Is there a time before which its safe to add a spouce
3) Is there a way to keep I485 pending until I get married? I do want to get my spouce on the 485 application to avoid long delay?

Search this forum for 'Follow to join' or FTJ. There is a sticky thready that deals with it. In a nut shell, your marriage need to happen before your 485 approval. If you can bring your spouse to the US before your 485 approval then you can file his/her 485 based on your pending 485, otherwise you go for conslar processing. If your marrige happens before 485 approval, but you are not able to file for spouse before your 485 approval, still you can use FTJ to apply for spouse. Chaeck FTJ thread to verify.

Thanks for the info. I have one question - Is it anyway possible to delay the processing of I485 ? My I140 is filed concurrently and hoping will be approved in a month. Is there any notification/paperwork to be sent once I140 is approved , and is it possible(Safe :) to delay my processing until june? Might have to go for a vegas wedding otherwise :)

No way to delay it, but you can withdraw and re-apply later.

I do not see any way to delay it other than what newbies said. You can do a simple marriage now and do the ceremonies later on. If your 485 gets approved, then there is a long (couple of years) wait for your wife to come join you here. Choice is yours ;)
