marriage status in Passport

levelheaded

Registered Users (C)
Hey Guys,
So i switched back to CP from initial AOS processing, mainly because I got married after getting 1st NL last yr. I am anticipating to get interview in Sep since numbers are current for Asia, but I haven't changed my status in passport(i.e., it still says I am single and so is my wife). We got married here in US, have marriage certificate and old photos, what not to show its legit marriage(we 've been in this relationship for 8 yrs )
Anyway, is it absolutely essential to get single status changed to married in passport before the interview, or can we do it later. Any suggestions.
Thanks!!

If your wife is going to change her last name she should have all her paperwork in her married name. All documents (KCC paperwork, passports etc) should have the same name on them.

I also got married in US after 1st NL and it only took a few weeks (here in Australia) to get my name changed on my drivers license and passport. I also changed my name on my medicare card as all our medical results had to be in my married name. My husband didn't need to get a new passport.

but I haven't changed my status in passport
What kind of passport are you talking about? What do you mean by your status in passport? Do you mean the passport still has your premarital maiden name, even though you changed it during the marriage ceremony? Or do you have joint passport with your spouse?

I meant to say single/married status, mainly for my wife, she didn't want to change her name so that's fine, but her status still shows up as single in passport. I won't have to change my passport I guess, but she will have to and replace her father's name with mine(husband's) name in passport.
