Let's try one more time....I think I've posted this question before. I received an asylum status in 2005 I am going to file I-485 in 2006. If I marry my girlfriend (she is an F1 student and we had relationship even before I got asylum) now, can we apply for I485 together????? The answer is probably NO, but a couple who did that they both got fingerprint appointment...............

No she cannot derive any immigration benefit from you.

Correct... there is no way she can get any benefit from you. I was in the same boat with my girlfriend. It sucks but it is true..

What should I do then? Give me advice. I don't think she can go to college for 5-7 years....
Since BCIS promised to process all application to register permanent residence within 6 month by the end of 2006, may they will include those who married to GC holders (hopefully I will become one soon).

dear sibmx:

myself is an asylee, when i was granted asylum 5 years a go,i was living with my girlfriend who has at that time F1 VISA, she was from diffrent country,

we got married after i got approved for asylum,

we filed for i 730, she was approved for derivative asylee,

she got work permit, non restricted social security number, travel document,

and financial aid to college,

in 2002 she filed for green card,

in 2004 she did FP,

the best thing is to get marry and file for i 730 for your wife

how they approved you I-730 eventhough you got married after asylum approval? The regulation says something else.
Can you explain it if you have more info. Pls.

Please help to clarify the situation. It is very important!!!! Gilbert I need your opinion. John Smith 1 can u give me any details? Did your lawyer told you u could do that?

P.S. I just checked I-730 and it says:The relationship between you and your relative must
have existed on the date you were granted asylum in the
United States and must continue to exist.

I know how do you feel, probably I have or had the same situation.
The last time I called a lawyer a year ago, he told me you can do anything in CIS, even stuff that not in the limit of regulation.
Depend on the IO, some of the wrong cases get approval.
He explaned one case that he had two sisters with the same information, everything same.Diffrent IO. one got approval for GC and the other didn't.
So all will happen in CIS. You may have better way to do something for your future spouse, search for all the ways that you may take for better future.
Open your eyes j.k.
I really want to help but some part of the life is not in our hands. you should let it go,
Do your best.
Best wishes, and Good luck.
