marriage just before CP interview

Cp2001, Civil Wedding is very smart move....

I did CP last year in Mumbai, based on my experience I can tell
you all they want is "mariage certificate" and ofcourse
Affidavit of Support (I-134) from your side.
Best Luck.

Kevin. Sorry for the delay

Was in transit, just got back. The webpage printout is basically the page you get when you enter your case number (on the Chennai website/appointments). Just take a printout of this. They do raise some eyebrows, but let you in anyways. If asked, just say, you have not recieved the appointment letter.

Well, I\'d be a little careful there

Please be prepared to answer a few questions there. They did look at the photos, invitation cards, etc for me and even asked for the church marriage certificate. But I guess you can explain that it was a civil marriage and therefore did not involve any relegious ceremony, therefore no photos/card.

Rajesh...

I am thinking of getting a Civil Wedding before the interview
so that I can submit my wife\'s pkt-3 @ the time of my interview..
I will be getting married after my interview..

Do I have to show them photo\'s during my interview (since
my wife won\'t be with me during my interview) or during my
wife\'s interview??.. The photo-graphs will be from my wedding..

Do U think its ok..

cp2001

I had a civil wedding in Nov .
Took some pictiures during this.

Had a religious wedding a week before the CP interview.
Took invitation cards of the religious wedding as well as pictures of both weddings to the US consulate. Since my wife and me live in seperate states , I also carried phone bills to proove I call her often ( last 1 yrs bills ) .

At the intrerview , the guy collecting the papers asked me where we got married . I said USA. He asked how we met .. I said college.
Thats it , nothing else . No question or mention of the religious wedding. As long as you have a legal wedding cert , thats enough, they cant touch you.
Carry pictures , e mails , phone bills etc to proove your case , just by chance they do decide to go further.

In any case I just walked thru the process, no issues what so ever.
My wife went staright from F1(OPT) to a GC.
