Marriage during I-485 in process

Hi, I've got a question if anyone knows the answer and can give me some advice. It has probably been discussed in previous forums, but I could not find them.

I have filled the I-485 through Asylum (Derivative) almost a year ago, I already did the fingerprints but I have not received the request for the medical examination.

I'm engaged with a US Citizen and we are going to get married in a couple of months.

The question is, can I cancel my application to be resident through asylum and start a new I-485 application through marriage? Would that affect me in any way?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

You certainly can withdraw your application and submit a new one based on marriage. It would also be a faster path to citizenship (3 years versus 4 years).

Colombiche: If you want to withdraw your application, I think the best way is to write to them a letter explaning your intensions or may be you can file new application based on the marriage in which case you will tell them that you have a pending application...of course there qeustions on the form that will ask you if you had applied for adjustment of status...

However, if I were you I would stick to your deravative status. If it is already one year since you have filed your case, chances are you hear from them soon...Also the marriage process should take some time...and you will depend on someone else whom you are not sure how long you are gonna stay around...This is my personal opinion......
