marriage before applying for a green card

I'm getting married for my boyfriend who is illegal here. I had my Asylum approved and I'm going to apply for a green card this October. What could I do so he can get at least a work permit, probably nothing but I see you are very competent so I wanted to ask, I was with him before I got my asylum. He is from Ireland. Do you thing it's anyway I can file for him for documents before getting my green card or it's better to wait. Is it possible after I get married and apply for him for document the IRS to tell me "Why don't you go and live in Ireland" :)
Thank You

Your spouse cannot benefit . Even if you were a U.S Citizen and you applied for him, he would have to leave the country and be barred from entering for 10 years. This is called the 10 year ban because of Illegal stay.

There is I-601 waiver(I-602 is for refugees) that can be filled but 9/10 times, it is refused.

The Immigration debate going on has an ammendment that will waive any illegal stay for "family Unity"

want, I'm very aware of that 10 year law, but I know a bunch of friends who were once illegal for years and later married US citizens, all of them got PR through marriage, if I'm not mistaken I believe there is some kind of exemption in the case an illegal person marries a US citizen....

You have to wait until you turn PR or US citizen.

How about waiting until president Bush signs that Immigration bill for illegal aliens. Assuming it affects all nationals not just Mexican immigrants. just a thought? won't he be purdoned if that bill goes through?

If you entered legally and marry a citizen, you can adjust even if you had become illegal since entering. The 10 year bar does not apply.

No one on earth knows if/when this will pass and if passed who will benefit.
