Marriage based N-400/Interview experinces

Hi there.I have read online a lot about marraige based N-400/3 yr rule.I would like to know what kind of expereince folks have had during enitre process.Specially interview.I am also in same boat and soon to file for my N-400.Any information would be helpfull.Is it more scrutinised than regular 5yr rule .What information/addtional papers should one carry to interview.What should one send intially with application.Sorry for all those questions.But I know there are many here who would like some sought of guidance/clarification.Keep up the good work all.:D
 
You'll find the validity of the marriage being scrutinized in more depth under 3-yr processing than regular 5-yr.

Non-marriage based cases typically don't trigger much in the way of looking at the spouse, except in cases of divorce or children out of wedlock, where you are expected to be current with child support and alimony.

One of the other factors to consider is length of marriage. If you've been married a long time before your N-400 appl, there will be more of an implicit assumption that everything is on-the-level. Short marriages meeting the bare-minimum requirements get significant scrutiny, so be prepared with tax records, leases, photos etc, etc.
 
Mine was pretty straight forward, only 4 months from N-400 submittal to becomming a USC. With the N-400, I just submitted all the proof I could find, bills etc with our joint info dating back since we were married (kept since the Green Card era), pics (again), joint-bank account statements etc. The interview was fairly simple and staright forward as well. Just asked how long we've been married, how many times have we each been married, why is my wife not with me (cause she was working) etc. That was about it. Interview couldn't have been more then 15 mins I don't think.

Oh I applied 80 days before my PR date, I waited an extra week before submitting just in case it got there too early and it was over the 90 day thing...

Did you sent all this with initial application or was it asked during interview?I just need to know what are the crucial documents to mail in or take to interview."Must take documents".
 
On instructions, there is clearly the list of what to send initially with the application:
Choice of 3 options:
1. Joint tax returns, lease, banking statements, birth certificates of children
2. IRS certified copies of tax returns
3. Tax transcripts
 
It always amazes me how lazy some people are when it comes to commonly asked questions that can be found out through searching this forum.

Dude...read the Guide to Naturalization and it'll give you a checklist of what to submit with the N400 application.

As for filing married, my process went very smoothly and the IO didn't even ask me anything about my husband or my marriage. Didn't check any documentation besides my passport, green card and driver's license during interview time.

You know what..I am a happy person if you must know since my process is completed. :D

I had to do my research as well on this forum and found lots of threads that helped answer my questions when I first went through the process.

All I'm saying is the questions this person is asking about are things that have been answered over and over again by loads of people that frequent this board....and if he/she did some research on this forum, they'd find what they're looking for. It's not rocket science! :rolleyes:
 
Can anyone share thier recent marriage based interview expereinces.I would really appreciate any details like what to carry or must things to have other than what will be mentioned in the letter.:confused:
 
My husband had his interview 2 weeks ago, you can read the about it here http://immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=258321.

When we mailed his application we included copies of the last 3 years of tax returns, a copy of a bank statement, a copy of our marriage certificate, and a copy of my birth certificate. At the interview he wasn't asked for anything that pertained to us being married.

Now keep in mind that we have been married for 9 years, and he actually could have applied on the 5 year rule, but we put down that he was applying based on the 3 year marriage rule.

had my interview earlier this month

Basically, IO didn't ask too much about my spouse. IO didn't ask to see marriage certificate (because I think a copy was sent with the application), didn't ask to see pictures either. I brought copy of bills and joint bank accounts just in case, but IO didn't ask for any of those things either.
