Marriage based Green Card

Granted

New Member
Hi everyone, Have a question maybe I can get some help from you!

I came to the US at the age of 5. Came here with my mother and sister. We entered without inspection, and once here my mother filed for Asylum under NACARA.

We came in 1989 from El Salvador. We were granted asylum, received work permits and SS cards.

In the late 90's my mother spoke to a lawyer, had a court date and was granted a green card.

My mother did not share the information about her lawyer or court date so I was not present on the day of the hearing.

With that said, I lost my work permit a few years after.

A teenager at the time, I did not comprehend the magnitude of the events.

16 years later, married and with a family, I have been working on adjusting my status.

The latest lawyer I spoke to, said I qualified under NACARA just like my mother did. However, I do have some misdemeanors on my record from my late teens. So my lawyer wanted to wait 10 years after the most recent charge before filing, he said it was risky.

What are my other options?

I am married to a US Citizen, have been married going on 5 years this year.

Thank you in advance!

Ed Grant.

green card after marriage

Hi! I'm in the process of Adjustment of Status. I've sent the papers in order to get my Green Card and I would like to know how long do I have to wait?
