Marriage at SubRegister office

Hi
I heard that before the actual marriage happens,we can get marry at subregister offices. Will this enough to get the H4(fieance's visa).This would save some holidays.
My question is, has anybody gone through this situation?What all the documents needed from Subregister offices. Do i need to get 30(?) photos?.

If you are talking about the marrige, in india in sub registrar offce without actually being married, it is known as register marraige
for the that a clear 30 days notice is required, the bride and groom have to submit the application along with the photographs, then the application along with the photographs will be displayed in the notice board for a month, for any objections from any body.
Once thirty days period is over then u can reisger your marriage.
but if can prove that u are already married some where with some photographs, with some witness, then that will be reigsered on spot
