Marraige license

Hello Everyone,
I just got a marriage license in state of California on day 89th since my fiance has been here. I was wondering if someone can tell me is marriage license is enough to apply for adjustment of status for my fiance or do I need to have the marriage ceremony as soon as possible. I went to the clerk's office and obtained a marriage license.

Do you have a marriage 'license' or a marriage 'certificate'?
A marriage license just gives you permission to get married and in no way shape or form is good enough for AOS as AOS requires proof that 'marriage' has taken place- after the marriage you will get a marriage certificate to 'prove' that you are indeed married. It is this that you need to submit with AOS.

A marriage licence is issed so that a couple may get married. A marriage certificate is issued when a couple is married. You need the latter.
