Marraige Certificate Date Issue

Back again with a banal question I guess.... Guys my interivew is on the 28th of July and today I noticed that the marraige certificate in my native language had wrong year (in native language); however, the english translation is fixed now. Do I have to get a new marraige certificate in native language? Do I have to ever show them or send them original Marraige certificate even while filing for my wives GC? Man this seems like a never ending process... no wonder we have more cases of Hyper Tension and BP in USA... Thanks guys for the assistance.

I don't think that will be an issue. At most the IO may ask you to clarify the date if he/she notices it at interview.

Your marriage certificate may not even come up during the N-400 interview.

However, to answer your other question GhantaBro - you will need to provide a copy of the marriage certificate in your native language along with an original translation when you file for your wife's green card.

So, you may need to begin the process of getting a new one issued - with the correct date - in India right now to use for your wife's process.

It is weird that the translation can have the correct date -weird because the traslation is meant to just show the English transcription of the original foreign languange. Doesn't make sense to me that the dates can vary between the two .

Friends,

BTW, how quick we get this Marriage cert in india?
We get one @ wedding time, is that enough or need to get one from registration office? It is required doc for K1 visa.thanx..

It was wrong but I asked them to fix the translation as it is easier to do so sitting over here..

I think for N400 interivew I should be alrite... may have to get the original one fixed so that there is no issue when I file for my wife as soon as I get the oath done.

If your filing is based on 5 year rule, not marriage, marriage certificate is not required. You will be fine, but if you file for your wife after becoming a US citizen, yes you should get an original with correct year in native language. It is better to bring her on spouse visa and file N-400 for her in usa. It is much easier than waiting for paperwork for her.

Ironically, you require almost the same documents and paper work to apply for the spousal "K3" visa as you would to petition to immigratet (CP or I-485).

Lolali, FYI recently they have figured out that K3 process is not faster than IR1 or CR1 anymore (in many cases). I don't know what way Ghantabro will do his paperworks but a major study is req. for such a process.
I am still scratching my head.

I have to file her GC coz in all the 15 letters that I wrote to senators, cogressmen and fbi officer, I mentioned that I am married and my wife is crying... she is threating to nun-out of my life (jk)... maybe one copy is in my file too.

How do you "fix" the translation if the native date is wrong!?

Wait, I forgot, this is India where you are "fixing" it? ;)

CP requires your spouse to wait in home country for an approval. K3 visa can be obtained at the US consulate or embassy on the same day and then travel to usa to be with her/his spouse and file 485 based on marriage to get a conditional green card. it is better to be with spouse quickly than waiting for time period.

If you want to file via CP, your spouse will have to stay and wait in her/his home country. If you want your spouse immediately, use spouse visa. Ghantabro, I know you have been waiting too long for your wife to come. try spouse visa for her.

There are several countries e.g. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh among others where he can even get an official certificate stating that he has never left his town/village, that he is still living in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh and that he is five years old. What's just one 'corrected' date compared to this?

I am just curious if you wife lives here in the States or back home. Has she ever been here?

I hate this seperation. I hope it will be over soon. GhantaBro let me know if I can help you in paperworks processings.

Peace

USGC,
You stated in another thread that taking non req docs is suggested and now you say MC is not needed. How does a person know which non req docs are to be taken and which aren't really required?

Nimche thanks a lot for your assistance throughout. I will certainly need your help in filing her GC. She is backhome and never came here before. Please let me know what are things I should send them for her GC filing... Thanks again.

G'Bro,
Don't worry about Marraige Certificate at this point. I am in the same boat as you are. I applied for Citizenship and my wife is back in the home country. We got married little over a year ago. I had my interview today. IO didn't ask anything about my marraige certificate, marriage date, wife's residency, etc.

But your wife will need both the original (native language) and the translated marriage certificates during the interview at the US consular in her home country.
