Looks like good month of march,

I-485 backlog down by 17,815 lets see what happenes going forward...

Backlog reduced around 1.5 %

Current pending Cases of I485 is 1,210,838. Reduction in back log is -17,815. This comes to around 1.47 % reduction. Will need a lot of more similar months to bring the backlog to reasonable levels. Anyway, as long as there is reduction, it is always good.

If the final aim of INS is to process 485 in 6 months, the approximate pending cases should come to 300,000. Assuming there is average 50,000 new applications each month. Currently it 4 times that number

Thanks. Very nice data. On one hand i am glad the at least CIS is processing a little more than received per month; on the other hand 18K reduction a month is not gonna do the job, since it'll take 5 years to eliminate the total backlog of 1.2 million.

It can be calculated based on the USCIS reports that they post on their website.

etc.

You can dig pretty far. Until 2001 I think. I attached a spreadsheet I made based on that data. Some people made similar spreadsheets and distributed them on this forum as well.

Out of this 1210,838 you can reduce atleast 160,000 asylee adjustment applications .But still long way to go ...lets see in couple of months how they proceed ...

Below is regarding the detail for asylees related case

By law, only 10,000 asylees can adjust status to Lawful Permanent Resident per year; however, USCIS is receiving between 15,700 and 28,200 applications per year. As a result, as of March 1, 2004, approximately 160,000 asylee adjustment applications were pending. We anticipate that we will process pending applications according to the following schedule:

This does not necessarily mean that they have approved more cases. As you can also see that the number of denials have increased by 38% or so, so they are trying to reduce the backlog by not just approving the cases but more by rejecting the cases.

This why we need keep fighting to make sure this won't happen!
