maintaining green card while working in canada

I am Indian passport holder and got US green card but moved to Canada on work permit this summer. I applied for re entry permit citing family reasons & have it approved for next 2 years. I want to maintain green card status & move in and out across the border. Since I mentioned family reasons on my application but actually started working Canada, will I might have secondary inspection and lose green card status if I do decide to enter US territory in next 1-2 years?

Thanks

brother in law is canadian citizen and living with us in Toronto. Mom was with us for last 3 months and then went back to India.
What to say while crossing US border? We are in Canada for family or because I got job?

If it's your first reentry permit and you haven't taken extended trips outside the US in recent years, once you show the reentry permit they don't hassle you at the border about why you're gone. If they ask questions, answer them truthfully but don't give more information than what is asked. Don't say you're working in Canada unless they specifically ask if you're working there.

Validity

Is it like the re entry permit gets invalid if you are working outside states for a non US based company?
I heard it was an old law and is not longer valid. Can you please shed your view on this?

Working abroad for a non-US company may be used as one of the factors for revoking your green card when you spend large amounts of time outside the US. But this is rarely a problem on your first reentry permit, unless you had extensive travel before the permit. And even if it comes to that, they're going to outright refuse you entry at the POE, they'll let you in and order you to see an immigration judge where you can plead your case.
