Maintaining GC Status

Hi,
I recently got my passport stamped under EB2 category for green card (and I think I am one of the few lucky ones who are reasonably happy with the sponsoring company). However, I would like to know what is required to maintain a GC status if I work outside the country either at an international office of the same company or another company altogether six months from now? Do I need to pay regular visit to US or be here for an extended period of time or maintain some property etc.? Any insight into the issue of maintaing GC will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks and More Questions

Thanks for the response Joe. From your reply, it seems like that I will have to maintain a job status in US at all times (so that I don\'t become a public charge) if I want to re-enter US. However, I thought GC frees people from having to maintain a job in order to come to US.
Does the same \'public charge\' criteria apply even if I get a re-entry permit before I leave?
Thanks again.

If you work for an american company, representing US commerce interests abroad, you may want to look at N470 as well and discuss this with your lawyer.

The public charge criteria does not mean
you should have a job all the time. If
the INS think you can pick up a job soon,
then it is OK. I think most of people
who won green card lottery do not have
a job offer or someone sign a affidavit
or supprt for them when they enter the USA
