Mailing my passport to home embassy during pending decision - Good idea?

Hello all -

My N400 decision is pending, my case status is currently at "the supervisor review of your case was completed. We will mail you a notice once a final decision has been made". My original passport will expire at 4/28 and I'm planning to renew it through my home country embassy at Washington, DC. According to an embassy official I spoke with over the phone, the renewed passport should come back to me within 3 or 4 weeks. However, from my experience this is not guaranteed.

My question, is it a good idea to mail this document now while my N400 decision is pending? Is it possible that USCIS will ask me to mail it to them as an evidence or for any other reason? If I'm denied an decide to appeal, would I need to present this document again?

Thanks

Never see anyone need to present his passport for citizenship. Do you have any particular reasons why
your passport may be wanted by USCIS?

No I don't actually. I just wanted to be cautious and make sure I don't do anything stupid to jeopardize my application :)

If there is no reason, then just wait for the oath letter and then take oath. You won't need to show passport even if you
want to for any bizaare reasons. So my advice is: treat passport reneal and your US citizenship as two completely unrelated
issue

Some interviewers will ask to see the passport, but you've already completed the interview so you don't have to worry about that. You won't need that passport again for the citizenship process.

Yes that's true, I was asked to show it during the interview. Thank you very much for the answers guys!
