Mail forwarding for N400 interview letter?

I will be out of town temporarily next month and I am expecting to receive my Interview Letter for my N400 during the same time period. Can I open a PO Box in the new place and have my mails forwarded to the new address, so that I can receive the Interview Letter?

Does USCIS interview letter have non-forwarding on it? Is this OK with USCIS? I don't think I need to file change of address with USCIS since this is temporarily?

Thanks in advance!

Inteview letters are non-forwarding. The USPS will not forward your interview letter to your temporary address.

You might want to check with your local post office, because I initially thought the same, however someone said temporary (short term) forwarding had different rules than permanent (1yr) forwarding.

In that case the Interview Letter will be sent to my old address, or being returned to USCIS?

Thanks!

Hi Wyoon,

My interview at Newark NJ (originally scheduled on Nov. 28th, 2007) got de-scheduled, and I received the de-scheduled letter on Nov. 5th. I spoke to a USCIS representative and was told that my file has not yet arrived Newark from Vermont.

Was your interview de-scheduled due to the same reason? Did you speak to any representative? It will be really helpful if you could share your experience after getting a de-scheduled letter. Many thanks for the same.

In my Case it was forwarded. Not my Interview Letter but my Fingerprint Notice. I was in between moving. I moved from one street to another and it was forwarded while my AR-11 was on it's way to the USCIS. The Fingerprint Notice and Interview Notice have the same Envelope. I am not sure if it has to do with your Post Office or it was a "mistake" but mine was forwarded.

My guess is that any mail stamped "no forwarding service" on the envelope by USCIS will not be forwarded by USPS.

In your case was there any instruction on your enevlope? Like "Non-forwarding", or "Return Service Requested"?

Does USCIS have any policy on what type of instruction to use on their notice letters, including Interview Letter, Finger Print Notice, etc?

No on the envelope was just the yellow sticker over the old address with my new address on it. Like they always do when you have your mail forwarded

Don't do any forwarding. Just HOLD the mail.
I do that everytime I leave the USA.
When I come back, I go to the Post Office and retrieve my mail.
