Maiden last name on H4

Dear All,

I am in the US on H1B. My wife changed her last name after marriage. She got a new Indian passport with my last name. The Indian consulate put a stamp in her old passport "passport cancelled, visa valid". When I got my H1B renewed, her H4 approval notice was in her maiden last name. Now we want to travel to India and get our visas stamped at the US consulate in Delhi in December. She has all the documents to prove the change in her last name - her old passport with the expired H4 visa stamp, the new H4 notice with the maiden/old last name, our marriage certificate and New Jersey Driver's license with new last name.

Friends - Do you think she will have a problem in getting the visa stamped in her new passport with the approval notice in old/maiden name?

A: Hopefully not. But carry both passport, Just in case.

Friends - Here is the response I got from the US Consulate in Delhi. Looks like it wont be a problem as long as we have all the documents to prove the change in the last name.

How long did it take to change your wife's passport with your last name?

The passport can be done in a day in NewYork if you go personally and deposit the passport before 11:00 AM.. they give the new passport same day... I got my Son's new passport in one day... ( the old one was getting expired)..
