Made a mistake on education level while filling DS-230 form. Is this a big mistake?

I am holding a bachelor degree with 6 years working experience. I just found out I wrote my education level wrong while filling DS-230. The confusion occured due to the different complicated education system between my country and the U.S. The title and the number of years speding in each education level is different. By that time, I did not understand the meaning of secondary and high school. I wrote 3 years of study in a secondary school from grade 7-9 as high school level. I just realized later that I should have written it as a secondary school. Even though I got a bachelor degree, which is higher level should be thing the consular might focus on, I am still concerned with my mistake because I found another thread about writting wrong DOB. So in my case, is this a very big issue for possibly disqualify? Can I talk about this during my interview?

By the way, I did not study in high school. After I completed a secondary school, grade 9, I choosed to study 3 years in a vocational school, which equals to grade 12. Then, instead of pursuing my bachelor degree for another 4 years, I choosed to study 2 more years in the vocational school for higher technical skills. When I completed, I got a diploma from the school and I could transfer my credit from the vocational school to pursue 2 more years in the university for a bachelor degree

I say don't worry about it unless they ask you about it (probably at interview) then you can expain it then.

I did too made a mistake on the DSP-122 on the education info. I was confused on the options of the highest education completed. I have a High School degree from the U.S and also an Associate Degree from the U.S. I'm currently getting my bachelor degree in the U.S.

When I sent my initial DSP-122 I noticed there is no choice for Associate Degree in the U.S, so I selected "College, No Degree." I realized that I put the wrong choice since I have a degree but it's not listed in one of the choices. When I resend a new DSP-122 form to the KCC to change from AOS to CP, I changed the education option to "other: Associate Degree".

I understand how confusing on writing the education background can be. As long as you listed all your education background, it should be ok. Since there is no clear guidelines to do this, as long as you wrote all the school you attended from age 6, there shouldn't be any problem. It is better to overwrite your education background than not writing it.

The mistake on DOB and education background is not the same. Mistake on DOB is fatal and can cause a disqualification while mistake on education background is minor and can easily be changed.

Mine either as same as yours. Vocational high school after grade 9 for only 3 years and received only vocational certificate and also did 4 years university degree.
Now I am really concerning this issue because on the electronic form declare Vocational schools or equivalence degrees are not acceptable at the highest level education topic.
But I saw some experiences from dv2007 vocational degree or associate degree were acceptable but there were no declaration of highest level education topic.
You think the education requirement is still the same as dv2007.

Herrmeister0159,

Where did you find this information? I don't see any mention about unacceptable vocational school in the DV instruction or maybe I didn't read it carefully. If it is like you said, it really makes me nervous. Moreover, I had only 2 years in the university while you got 4. Can I ask when your interview date is? Did you prepare all document?

Everyone said if we have bachelor degree then more than qualified but not sure based on minimum high school or equaivalency.
This is what I read and feel nervous on the electronic application no. 12

12. What is the highest level of education you have achieved, as of today?
Primary school only University Degree
High School, no degree Some Graduate Level Courses
High School degree Master Degree
Vocational School Some Doctorate Level Courses
Some University Courses Doctorate Degree

You must have a minimum of a high school diploma reflecting the completion of a full course of study (vocation schools or equivalency degrees are not acceptable) or be a skilled worker in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to qualify (visit http://online.onetcenter.org/ {this link will open in a new window} to see if your occupation qualifies) for a Diversity Visa.
This just changed at dv2008 but if there is nothing change about educational requirement since dv beginning then we are qualified.
