Luckiest Week in my I130/I131/I485 application process

This past week was the luckiest week so far for me in dealing with USCIS.

First I got an email notice (2/15/06) that the long-await I-130 petition (filed in 2002 and through upgrade, transfer, etc.) was finally approved.

Second, the very next day (2/16/06), my wife got the I-131 approval letter in the mail.

Third, I did not expect to get an I-485 interview letter until June 06 (based on the processing time at Portland, OR DO.) But in 2/18/06, we got the letter for an interview date of 4-20-06.

I hope that my timeline can give you some insight into your own.

No one can be luckier than you. Congrats!

Just a quick question.

How can you file 131 & 485 without I-130 being approved? I thought one should get 130 approved before you can file 131 & 485.

Please advice.

procedure for approving I-130

What is the procedure for approving I-130.

For example currently CSC is approving I-130 as of Jan 2005. Does that mean that if I filed I-130 in Jan 2006, I should be getting the approval in approx 1 year.

Is there any other calculation to this.

Thanks.

You can apply for I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 all in one package to the Chicago Lock Box address. You don't have to wait for I-130 approval first.

Agree

I agree that you can file together but I was under the impression that they will not approve your 131 OR 485 till you have 130 approved.May be I am wrong. Please clarify.

anyone knows about update on processing dates? NSC & CSC &VSC shows processing date for Jan 2005. I filed mine in Sept'2004. So should I expect approval soon?

You are partly correct.

In case of a LPR applying I-130 for spouse, the I-130 has to be approved first and PD should be current in order to apply for I-131, I-485, I-765.

In case of a USC applying for an immediate relative, I-485 can be applied concurrently with the I-130 and both would be adjudicated in parallel since an immigrant visa number is immediately available to the immediate relatives of a USC.

I knew that there would be confusion with USC and GC Holder. I am not looking to know what documents to file together and where to file etc..

I am questioning the I-130 APPROVAL PROCESS.

I re-phrase my question:

I am a GC Holder. For Spouse of GC Holder, CSC is approving I-130 as of Jan 2005.
Does that mean that if I filed I-130 for my spouse in Jan 2006, I should be getting the approval in approx 1 year.

Is there any other calculation to this, or is it that simple.

Thanks again everyone.

No calculations

There is never any calculation dealing with INS. In January the dates were June 2002. Within a month they moved to Jan 2005. I won't be surprized if they go back to 2004 after a month.

I really hope the dates are true and it is Jan 05. I am going to call INS today and find out.

Keep you posted.
