low number of winners from spain

dont mix it up -EU citizens born in another EU country have the same birth certificate as citizens of the EU country they are born -they can get citizenship of that country by birth -UK citizen born in GERMANY can and is GERMAN citizen also (by default) so he can be "charged" to that country for the GC lottery purpose -they got the same birth certificate as any other German born in Germany-from you tread you can deduct that much -Russian guy from Germany for example has no chance precisely because of that ;You need to have birth certificate of the country of chargebility same as the birth certificate like any other citizen of that country otherwise its not gonna work

Have you been reading our posts? Myself, no_trying and ammeck09 have all directed you toward evidence that it is NOT about citzenship. If you have information contradicting this then please POST A LINK, otherwise your claims are very unhelpful. Most of us on this forum are here to help people get to the truth about the DV process, we are not here to try and discourage people who can legitimately enter from doing so.

To repeat the official instructions again (and again and again...):
Your country of eligibility will normally be the same as your country of birth. Your country of eligibility is not related to where you live. “Native” ordinarily means someone born in a particular country, regardless of the individual’s current country of residence or nationality. For immigration purposes, “native” can also mean someone who is entitled to be “charged” to a country other than the one in which he/she was born under the provisions of Section 202(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

This has nothing to do with having EU Birth Certificate, but place of birth. British Citizen by blood born in Germany, (Germany doesn't give German Citizenship people who does not have German blood) got GC via DV because Germany is the place of birth for eligibility for DV. Being a UK Citizen by blood does not disqualify you for GC via DV even when UK is ineligible for DV Lotttery.

I have no further say, verdict is out and case is closed on this subject.

I think you are right - I should now remove myself from this thread too. If after all of the evidence provided to them they are still making unsubstantiated claims then there is really nothing we can say and no amount of evidence that will make them stop.

To sudipmuk: Based on what you have said, if you have a Spanish brith certificate proving you were born in Spain then you ARE allowed to enter the lottery. I recommend you ignore anybody telling you otherwise unless they provide you evidence. Contradictory claims made without providing a link to evidence are meaningless. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks everyone for helping me out. I was getting confused about this issue. I do have papers given to my parents by the spanish hospital showing that i was born there. My passport shows i was born in spain, and also my mother's passport where indian embassy in spain added my details after i was born. So that means i and my wife can definitely enter DV with Spain as the country of chargeability.:)
Thanks again.

Born in Eligible county, lived in ineligible country, can i apply for the Lottery?
DV2010 lottery will allow people born in eligible country to apply for the DV2010 lottery. For example a person was born in Nigeria and lived all his life in India because of his father's business nature. So the person can enter for the next coming dv lottery as his birth country is eligible. If any of his siblings were born in India, they too can apply claiming their parents birth country.

The above statement offer the best explanation to this debate. I think this should close the issue about the country of birth or chargeability issue.
