Lottery and marriage (DV2007 winner)

Hello -

My fiancee' has just been notified that she was selected for further consideration for the DV2007. We were not able to assess the reason why the notification came so late, but we have a more urgent problem now.

My fiancee' applied for DV2007 in December 2005 as a single. In the meantime (late 2006) we got engaged and scheduled our wedding for this coming November 2007. Now we have received the great news about her winning the lottery, but we are concerned as to when we should get married in order to obtain visas for both of us. We called the KCC, they told us to hurry up and send them the DS-230 and DSP-122 for my fiancee' first, then get married and notified them with the marriage license (if this occurs before the visa interview is scheduled) or notify our Consulate (if the interview is already scheduled with the consulate). It is my understanding that the interview needs to be scheduled before September 30, 2007 and so our wedding. We live in the US on H1 visas right now (and have been for five years), but wanting/willing to travel back to Italy for the inteview, if this is a faster option than adjusting the status in the US.

I guess I am just looking for a confirmation of my understanding, and opinions and suggestions from this community. Also, do I (as an eligible dependent) need to send KCC any documentation (photos, etc.) or will I be requested to bring my documentation to the interview at the Consulate, together with my fiancee'? Sorry if this topic has already been addressed, I have just found this forum and did not have time to make a thorough search. Thanks a bunch in advance for your feedback!

Yes, if you want to benefit from her luck at the lottery, you would need to be be married before her interview.
Just be prepared for questions on your relationship. The IO might have some doubts, and the burden is on your shoulders to prove it's not a fake thing for the GC
I am extremely surprised that you are saying that she is notified now for DV07, when people are now being notified for DV08 ( some say it's even too late for DV08 ) !?
 
I have now read your posts, Catseyes, thanks a lot!

As you can imagine we were very surprised by (1) the notification itself and (2) finding out how late the notification was... the letter, dated March 20, 2007, arrived in the mail yesterday (!!! - we changed our address last year...) with a case number 2007EU00015***. The notification package had an extra page explaining that, due to a low volume of responses to the Spring 2006 responses for DV2007, additional notification, like ours, were being sent out. Or something like that. Guess we really need to hurry up and send immediately (i.e., today) my fiancee's docs to KCC, as single, and keep our finger crossed for entering the DV2007 so late! Then we'll get married next month and send additional/corrective docs. We've been together for more than 12 years, and now we are rushing to the chapel! :)

well, there have beed quite a few cases of additional notification letters for Europe for DV2007, so it's no suprise there.
