Lost Passport..

Hi,

I am a citizen of India living in USA. I have applied for the green card and my I-140 is pending.

I had to visit another country on official work hence i applied for visa.Left the pasport with the consulate.After a week i enquired consulate regarding the visa status,they replied that the passport was mailed with in 2days of placing the request.But we havent received the package.FedEx tracking says that the passport package was delivered.

I am applying for a "Duplicate Passport".

* What are the problems that i will be facing in case of lost passport...
* What happens if i dont have I-94?
* Will this affect my I-140/I-485?

I am really confused.
Please suggest whether its safe to leave the country in this situation. Should i cancel my official trip?

I guess you should complain this issue to the cop and take there advice !

Travel while I-140 Pending

Yes, if you have a valid H/L visa, you can surely travel abroad after I140 submission and enter U.S. again. There is no need to take additional I140 documents with you. However, if you are ever asked whether you have submitted immigrant petition on Form DS-156 or DS-157, you shall answer yes.
