Lost passport please help

I applied for a duplicate passport in lieu of my lost passport at the washington emabssy. Does any body know how much time it will take me to get my passport? Does the passport papers go for any police clearance in my case or they just go for clearance to the place from where the pasport was issued??? Any clues any body please help and your help will always be appreciated !!!

I would like to tell one of my friend experience who lost his passport here in US and how did he approach to get his new PP. First of all he filed a complaint at nearest police station and they gave him clearence to file for new PP at DC consulate, so I beleive in ur case it might go to local police for clearence but I would not worrry as consulate has already accepted ur application so u will get ur PP soon.

Abt time to get ur PP, it should take couple of months as it is duplicate PP appl. and they might verify all information before it is issued.
