Lost of US Citizenship by becoming Naturalized Mexican?

I am a native born American. In about six months, I will become eligible to apply for Mexican Citizenship by virtue of my years here and marriage to a national. I do not want to give up my US citizenship when I become a Mexican.

I have Canadian friends who went to the Mexican office in Queretaro, where I live, that handles naturalization. They were told they would have to pledge allegiance to Mexico and forsake their Canadian citizenship. I do beleive the first part, but have doubts about the second assertion.

The little research I have done says both the US and Mexico recognize dual citizenship by naturalization. I don't know about Canada.

I further understand that it takes a specific act of revocation by a US citizen at the US Embassy to lose citizenship. I don't plan to do that and further do not believe that Mexico will require that I do so. I have met Americans who have been naturalized. They never mentioned any loss of citizenship.

Does anybody have the facts on this matter?

I don't know if i will answer your question but i know that there are countries which have an agreement for a citizen to have 2 nationalities from both countries,so i will advice you to talk with an attorney because only him can know more specifically it applies to you and if there is any agreement for that between the US and mexico.

Hope it helps
