Lost Naturalization Certificate,How long for replacement?

The IRS site says it can take up to a year. How long does it usually take for replacing a lost naturalization Certificate?

I have to pay $380 to apply for a replacement if I can't find it this week. If you have applied for a replacement, can you let me know how long it took for you?

I live in Phoenix, Arizona.

I don't have a recent experience, but I woud expect 5 months. It can be expedited if you show a good reason.

their website says up to 12 months? where you get the 5 months estimate?

I'm trying to travel overseas, that will be my only good reason :)

thanks..

Why would you need a naturalization certificate for travel? What you need is a passport. Are you trying to say that you don't have a passport?
Where did you see that it says 12 months. I think N-565 for Arizona is handled in Nebraska, they are showing 6 months for processing time, which I guess is the target:

N-565 Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document U.S. citizen applying for a replacement of naturalization or citizenship certificate 6 Months

I was being optimistic with the 5 months. As I said I don't have current experience.

I don't think travel overseas is a good reason to expedite ;) I mean, I don't think they'll accept it as a good reason, but I don't know for sure.

How can i expedite ? Been waiting for 3 months now? Please help

The post you are responding to is a decade old.
current n565 processing times are 6-8 months. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Reasons for expediting cases at uscis are imo highly unlikely to apply in the case of a replacement naturalization certificate, but you’d need to provide evidence to show your case meets one of the following:

USCIS may consider an expedite request if it meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Severe financial loss to a company or person, provided that the need for urgent action is not the result of the petitioner’s or applicant’s failure to:
    1. File the benefit request or the expedite request in a reasonable time frame, or
    2. Respond to any requests for additional evidence in a reasonably timely manner;
  • Urgent humanitarian reasons;
  • Compelling U.S. government interests (such as urgent cases for the Department of Defense or DHS, or other public safety or national security interests); or
  • Clear USCIS error.

Anyway i can get a copy of it though? Instead of applying for replacement?
Its too late now since you already lost it, but its possible to get a certified copy of the naturalization certificate from the uscis by scheduling infopass. They will copy the original and certify it for you with a raised seal, which can be used in place of the original. I got it for myself so that I don’t have to worry about paying a humongous fee in case it is lost. So for me, passport is the primary proof, and I have put the original and certified copy in two different safeboxes. Hopefully I don’t have to deal with USCIS again in this lifetime

I didn’t know that - useful information.

Why do you need ds11 if you already had a passport? cant you just renew by mail?
but if you do need to do ds11, then the instructions say

APPLICANTS WHO HAVE HAD A PREVIOUS U.S. PASSPORT BOOK AND/OR PASSPORT CARD
LOST OR STOLEN - If you cannot submit your valid or potentially valid U.S. passport book and/or passport card with this application and you have not previously submitted Form DS-64, Statement Regarding a Lost or Stolen U.S. Passport, you are required to fill out and submit a DS-64 with this application.
