Lost Job last week what will be my options?

Hello Guys,
I lost my job last week now I m looking for new job and going through inerviews..I filed my 485 in Feb 2002 and did my second finger print on August 9 2003. I have my ead my question is
Can I apply for unamloyment through ead or not?
Is there any problem if I get RFE?
Any other thing I need to keep in maind or take care of during job search?

yes..dont go for unemployment

there will be more chances for rfe. also you want to show that you wont be a burden on state.
now you are very close to being adjudicated. might not want to take additonal risks.
as always..look for the most similar job occupation.

Unemployment Insurance

As has been discussed in the past on this forum (you should run a search for these threads), collecting unemployment does not in itself mean that you are a public charge. Unemployment is insurance, just the same as health insurance. Eligibility to collect unemployment on EAD may vary from state to state. I think the chances of RFE are remote, given the abysmal efficiency of the govt organizations, be it at the local, state or Federal level.

I would say that if you need the money, by all means take it - you and your employer have paid into the system for it........

there are 50 states, some of them are even maybe using paper technology.
for filing in NJ, you need only Alien number, which we already have.
 
I am in same situation like BostonGC2002. Although I am eligible to take Unemployment on EAD, but what to do if i get RFE. This was the only reson that i didn't apply for UI and waiting for approval.

Hi Boston and Fira,

Your options/prayers:

1 - Try to find a similar job to use AC21
2 - Pray you do not get an RFE
3 - Read the bill H.R. 3271 introduced by Dick Gephardt and pray it will pass (I believe some version of it will pass in 2004). If you don't find a similar job, get an RFE and you AOS is denied, try to to hang around in the U.S in an unlawful status until H.R. 3271. I believe the mountains of Wyoming provide a nice hideout where even BCIS can't find you.

In short, there is hope no matter what.

Please go to http://thomas.loc.gov, put hr3271 in the search box and hit enter. You will get all current information about the bill (the text, sponsors, co-sponsors, status, etc.). Let me know if you are having trouble with that site.
 
When an RFE is generated on a case and BCIS asks for tax returns, there is a chance they can know that you collected unemployment insurance.
