hello All,
I just lost my Job after 4 years in a company. I will be getting salary continuation upto May 15,01 .I am about 3.5 months into I-485. I have about two years in my H1B. My details are as followings
WAC-01-077-......
RD 01/02/2001
ND 01/17/2001
FP 03/03/2001
I have not received my EAD yet. I am kind of confused as what should I do next.
-Should I look for and start a new job ?
-How soon can I accept new job ?
-If I join new company, will my AOS application be cancelled ?
-Do I need to start my permanent residence from the scratch with new company ?
-Should I wait for EAD or AOS approval ?
Any help or suggestion will be appreciated . Thanks

You should be getting approved around 5/15, hopefully. Before you leave you may want to get an employement letter just in case you got an RFE. You will still have pay-stub for May, so unless you got RFE after June, you will be ok.
Leave in a good term with your employer so that they will not withdraw you I-140 application. While applying for an 485 you don\'t have to work for the employer, you I-140 depends on it.
In all likely cases, you should be ok. Sorry to hear that but I think you will be ok.

Thanks Jbs and debo_nair,
I appreciate your replies and helps me get on with it. What is RFE ? however I was told that company will help me be on salary continuation after May 15, 2001 if I want it ie using my vacation hours which is about 200 hrs( about a month) so far instead of getting paid for vacation time.
Any views on this. Thanks

as long as the company pays you then you are consider employed. However, the important thing is that while you are applying for 485, you DONT have to work for the employer. However, you ARE supposed to work for that employer once the 485 is granted. So it is important that they don\'t withdraw 140 application, intention of hiring you. So if the company is willing to accommondate you on vacation time, it is a good sign. Just keep low and wait for you term. I guess you will get approved within a month. Once approved, if you get laid off, it is ok. Because you didn\'t leave on your own will so the 140 is still valid.
