I am about to apply to replace my lost greencard. Instructions do tell me where to find my class of entry and date of admission-- right there on my lost greencard. Is there any other way to find these things out? I came in as K-1 and got permanent card with conditions removed 3 years ago or so.

Most people have a copy of their green card, and they submit a copy of the GC with the I-90. That's how you would find that information when the card is lost.

If you work, your employer probably has a copy of your green card, which they made for the I-9 paperwork. Go to HR and try to get a copy of the copy or at least look at it and write down the information.

If that's not possible, look at the I-485 approval notice. It will have the date. Sometimes this is a few days later or earlier than the date on the card, but it's still close enough that it won't cause a problem with renewing the card.

Somewhere in the top right of the I-485 approval notice you will see a line that says "COA: ___". That would be your class of admission. Based on how you got your GC, I can deduce that your class of admission would be CF1.

Thank you very much. I haven't used greencard for anything but a driving license, unfortunatly. I did find my I-485 welcome to USA letter and it does say CF1 . I hope it didnt change when conditions were lifted 2 years later and I got a 10-year card? Also, in the left corner I found a "Notice date" --- is this that misterious date of admission? I spent an hour on the phone with USCIS and they couldnt tell me anything at all.
Also, how troublesome is to prove that I actually had this thing? I obviously cant email a photocopy. All I have is my old passport and current driving license. Can't they figure out what my status is based on SSN and alien number? Boggles my mind.
