Lost Green card - Done interview but have not taken the Oath

Guys and Gals,
Something real bad happenned to my friend last week.
He has lost his GC.
He is in the midst of his citizenship application.
He is done with Interview process and will be taking his oath next.

What are his options available?
Should he file for a I-90 for a GC replacement (going to take 6 months) before taking his Oath?

Will the immigration dept allow him to take his oath without his GC? (he still has a photocopy of his GC and a stamp on his passport 5 years ago for the GC approval).

Please help.
